HOT favourites Nemo Rangers delivered a quality performance to better Pobal Uí Chaoimh to a one sided Co U21 A Football Championship quarter-final at Coachford last Saturday evening.

From start to finish, the defending holders offered a powerful display of positive and attacking football. Indeed, Nemo never took their foot off the pedal with goals bagged early and late.

A young Pobal Uí Chaoimh fielding 14 Knocknagree players and a lone Ballydesmond representative on the starting 15 toiled bravely and offered some nice passages of football.

But in the overall sense, the Duhallow champions held no answers to the questions posed by a Nemo combination harbouring hopes of back-to-back county titles.

From the off, Pobal Uí Chaoimh were unable to cope with the unrelenting power and energy unleashed by Nemo once full-forward Luke Connolly and corner man Corner Horgan blasted to the net inside 4 minutes.

Pobal Uí Chaoimh pulled themselves together with points to John F Daly and Shane O'Connor. Those scores offered the Knocknagree/Ballydesmond outfit encouragement, boosted by the efforts of Daniel Murphy, Karl Daly, Séan Cronin, Anthony O'Connor and Chris White.

Some confusion in the Nemo danger zone allowed the nifty White goal. Game on it appeared but Nemo responded with a Don O'Mahony green flag to hold a 3-5 to 1-4 interval lead.

Nemo resumed in full flow with Kevin Fuligratti, Darragh Kerins and Stephen Cronin strong in defence as were Alan O'Donovan and Jack Horgan in midfield. And their greater sharpness was confirmed on a second goal for O'Mahony.

Pobal lacked a pattern, waiting to the 55th min for their only point of the half, delivered by Anthony O'Connor. Still Nemo held all the aces to a grade that's extremely prominent in the club on operating both A and B teams.

And with places are up for grabs against Clonakilty in the A semi-final after substitute Barry Madden came off the bench and helped himself to a 2-3 tally. Such shooting epitomised the talent available and Nemo's desire to complete outright honours.
