Fermoy seal final spot at Nemo's expense

Fermoy who led all through this County Under 21 A HC semi-final at the 4G Pitch in Pairc Ui Chaoimh were forced to withstand a great late rally by Nemo Rangers in wet conditions.

Fermoy hit the front with a first minute goal by David Lardner. Adam Creed followed with a long range point. Further pressure saw Jake Carr point under pressure in the seventh minute. Nemo Rangers had their opening score by Ronan Dalton.

Jake Carr added a second point. Nemo Rangers had a goal by impressive James Allen after good play by Jack Coogan and Colm Kiely 1-3 to 1-1. Darragh Daly edged Fermoy three points clear.

In the 20th minute good play for the winners by Luke Aherne and Jake Carr led to a David O'Callaghan point. Fermoy now dominating in vital sectors added a long range pointed free by David Lardner.

In the closing David Lardner worked well along the flank for Jake Carr who goaled and gave the winners an interval lead 2-6 to 1- 1. Nemo Rangers had the aid of the wind on the resumption. James Molloy stretched Fermoy's lead with a point. Nemo Rangers made a good recovery.

Rapid points by Kevin O'Donovan and James Allen were followed by two pointed frees by David Lardner 2-9 to 1- 3. James Allen pointed a free and he followed with a goal from a free at the end of the third quarter that cut the lead 2-9 to 2- 4.

Nemo Rangers missed a few chances, but got the lead down to four points by the 49th minute. Nemo Rangers were reduced to 13 players when they had two players dismissed with yellow cards. David Lardner landed another pointed free 2-10 to 2- 5.

A much improved Nemo side put in a great last 10 minutes.. James Allen with two frees had the lead down to three points 2-10 to 2-7. James Molloy completed Fermoy's tally in the 56th minute.

Nemo treid very hard for a goal. Fermoy defence held firm. In the closing moments James Allen with another pointed free completed the scoring. Fermoy were reduced to 14 players when they had a forward black carded in the 58th minute.

They await the winner of Éire Óg / Newcestown in the county final.
