Cork ladies bid to reclaim crown

THE two biggest names in Ladies football are to clash in Parnell Park this Sunday in the final of the Tesco National Football League, Division 1.

The Rebels have had yet another highly successful league campaign defeating Meath, Dublin, Tyrone, Mayo and Laois (in the semi-final) along the way to the final. They take on Mayo who had an impressive victory in their semi-final on a scoreline of 1-10 to 0-9 against Monaghan.

Intriguingly all of Mayo's scores in that National League semi-final were garnered by veteran star Cora Staunton. Cork boss Eamon Ryan will, no doubt, have his homework done on the Mayo wizzard.

Cork missed out on the five in-a-row league titles last year when Monaghan defeated them and will be more than determined to reclaim their position as league champions, following on from their All Ireland final success against Kerry last year.

Kerry, meanwhile, will take on Galway in the curtainraiser in the Division 2 final with a 2pm throw-in time. Cork and Mayo get underway at 3.45pm.
