Castletownroche bow out to Tipp kingpins Drom & Inch

Munster Junior BHC Semi-final: Drom & Inch 0-16 Castletownroche 1-4

Drom & Inch ran out worthy winners over Castletownroche in the Munster Junior BHC semi-final at Raheenagh (Co Limerick) on Saturday.

Aided by the breeze in the opening half the Tipperary outfit were quick to gain a foothold on proceedings with Eric Woodlock, Kevin Aherne, Cathal Ryan, Colm Kinnane, Ciaran Ryan, Jerome Ryan, Michael Clohessy and Matthew Ryan featuring strongly.

They created most of the running in this half and it was reflected when moving 0-6 to no score ahead by the 28th minute and could have been more only for the Castletownroche keeper Donal Relihan making a vital save from Matthew Ryan in the 10th minute and he also denied the same player from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute.

Castletownroche were very much off target in this half and they opened their account in injury time when Mark O'Callaghan pointed a free and it left them five points adrift at the interval 0-6 to 0-1.

For the second half Castletownroche who were down to fourteen players at this stage showed signs of a second half revival when Mark O'Callaghan set up Dylan O'Connor for an early point. However, it was Drom & Inch that found scores much easier to come by and at the end of the third quarter some well taken points by Jerome Ryan, Thomas Ryan, Michael Clohessy and Matthew Ryan moved them seven clear 0-10 to 0-3.

Jonathan O'Callaghan kept Castletownroche in touch but it was the winners that continued to shade matters and helped by points by Seamus Butler (2) Jerome Ryan and Jamie Ryan they increased their advantage to 0-14 to 0-4 by the 54th minute.

Castletownroche battled away against the odds. Two minutes later they struck for the only goal of the game when Muiris Browne and Niall Hazelwood combined well to set up Donal Relihan who was now operating at full-forward for a goal.

However, it was too little too late for the Avondhu side with Drom & Inch running out deserving winners and they added late points by Liam Harty and Seamus Butler to run out victors by a nine point margin.
