The Willie Neenan Memorial 5 mile Race brought enthusiastic numbers to the starting line with international athlete Kevin Maunsell taking the men's prize in a record time and Leevale's Carol Finn landing the ladies' equivalent.

Not for first time, the sunshine beamed down, again a brilliant atmosphere surrounded the staging, the athletes earning a terrific reception over the course and at the finishing line.

The staging was a fitting tribute to Willie's memory and his contribution to athletics over a lifetime. And a great friend, Fr. Paddy Byrne, former US coach, donated a magnificent perpetual Cup in his memory.

Meanwhile, the ladies' winner received the Richard and Chris Kiely Memorial Cup.

Organisers extended thanks to the stewards, volunteers, gardaí and helpers for making the race another outstanding success.
