Two local firms off to US on trade mission
TWO local firms are among six Gaeltacht companies heading to Philadelphia as part of trade mission to develop export markets. If they are successful, they will be making the US sweeter and warmer.
The six Gaeltacht companies, along with representatives from Údarás na Gaeltachta, are taking part in a trade mission to Philadelphia from November 20-22 on invitation from the Irish-American Business Chamber Network (IABCN).
The Údarás client companies visiting Philadelphia are Firebird Teo and Folláin Teo from Cork, along with firms from Mayo, Galway and Donegal.
Firebird Teo, based in Baile Mhic Íre, is known for designing high quality, efficient heating boilers at its modern, highly automated factory.
Follain, meanwhile, make preserves, jams, marmalades, relishes and salsa using traditional recipes and local fruits.
The invitation by the Irish-American Business Chamber Network will provide the Gaeltacht companies with an opportunity to explore new export markets in America.
"This trade mission is an excellent opportunity to promote the Gaeltacht as a location for enterprise to the business community in Philadelphia," said Údarás chief executive Steve Ó Cúláin.
