Proposal for old fire station

THE old fire station in Millstreet is deteriorating after lying idle for the past two years, Cllr Noel Buckley (FG) told colleagues at Monday's meeting of Cork County Council.

However, Cllr Buckley said that "there may be an interest by a person" in purchasing the station, which in turn could create "a few jobs."

Cllr Gerard Murphy (FG) was of the opinion that if the building in Millstreet could be leased or purchased, then it made no sense for Cork County Council to allow it to remain idle.

County Manager Martin Riordan said it was a "very good proposal" and the person who is interested should make themselves known to the council's acting divisional officer.
