Operation Transformation 2013 Deirdre enjoys life in the fast lane on a day out with Kathryn


achieve her targets in both weight loss and walking speed.

On Thursday, Deirdre walked almost 5km in just 45 minutes giving her a, much desired, speed of 9.2.

"That was a massive achievement for me, I really was on a high after that," she said.

One of Deirdre's favourite recipes from Dr. Eva Orsmond is a 'devine' Chicken Pilaf.

While most of the food is a definite hit for her, Deirdre says the spinach and feta wrap was definitely not one of her favourites and not something she would be keen to try again.

"That was the first thing I ate that I said I wouldn't have again. There was no taste from it." she said.

Now that Deirdre is getting fitter and lighter her focus is on knuckling down this week to hit her next target of 3lbs loss while increasing her exercise regime to incorporate more running in preparation for the 5km run next month.

Taking fitness expert, Karl Henry's advice, Deirdre is starting slower with her cardio workouts and finishing stronger, a system that will, no doubt, get her across the finish line in record time at the Operation Transformation Fun Run in Cork in a few short weeks. Dr. Eddie Murphy paid OT Leader Deirdre Hosford a visit in her Whitechurch home on Tuesday where they chatted about ways to improve selfimage and be less critical of what she sees when she looks in the mirror.

On Thursday, RTE's Kathryn Thomas surprised Deirdre with a trip to Kartworld in Watergrasshill for a day of Karting.

Having been only once, almost 18 years ago, Deirdre has since avoided it, fearing that she would not fit in to suit or kart. But on Thursday, her fears proved groundless as she zipped around the track with Kathryn.

Deirdre said: "It was great, I had always wanted to go karting and myself and Kathryn had a fantastic day down in Watergrasshill."
