New life for oldest bridge

A CO CORK bridge, said to be narrowest and oldest public bridge in everyday use in Europe, is set to receive works this summer.

Cork County Council this week confirmed that Glanworth bridge will receive treatment as part of its surface dressing proposals for 2012. Cllr Frank O'lynn (FF) had requested that the mid15th century structure would be resurfaced at this week's meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area Committee.
