Ladies club brings spirit of Men's Shed indoors
Charleville now has a Ladies' Club to rival the Men's Shed in that it is looking after the social needs of women in the town and area the same as the Men's Shed is looking after that of the men.
The group meet at the Vincent's Centre at Keating's Lane in the town every week where they have a programme of topics to discuss and experience each week.
The group's chief organiser, Marian McCarthy, said they now had 24 ladies in the group and they have cookery classes, they reminisce or do crafts, psychotherapy or mindfulness. "We also have a solicitor to discuss the making of a will, which is so important to people," said Marian.
The group is funded by the ECB and each member also makes a small weekly contribution to defray the cost of the meeting room, which they get from the local St. Vincent de Paul Society.
The group is open to all women from the town and area to join, and new members are made to feel very welcome. They will be adding to the variety and number of topics to be discussed in the run up to the Christmas period.
