There will be champagne corks popping and beaming smiles aplenty at National Lottery HQ today as the latest lucky lotto winner from North Cork arrives to pick up their cheque.

A spokesman for the National Lottery confirmed the punter or punters who scooped a cool €500,000 in the Euromillions Plus draw on Friday, June 28 will travel to the capital today to collect their windfall.

The spokesman confirmed that the holder(s) of the winning ticket, which had been purchased at Twohig's SuperValu in Kanturk, had decided to remain anonymous.

Theirs was the third major Lotto win in Cork over a period of a fortnight - and the second in North Cork during that period.

The winning numbers were 3, 21, 34, 42 & 50.

It came just days after a nine-strong syndicate from the Barry Group in Mallow picked up another cheque for €500,000 after their numbers came up in the June 11 Euromillions draw.

Ironically, this was the second time a syndicate from the Mallow based company had won big Lotto bucks, after a group of 20 colleagues shared an almost €370,000 windfall back in 2017.

The manager of Twohig's SuperValu in Kanturk, Kevin Forde, said the latest  win had generated a great buzz around the town.

"For us, its great that one of our customers is half-a-million Euro richer. We all hope it is one of our regular customers, that they enjoy their money and it brings them all the very best of luck," he added.
