Improved bus service for Ballincollig within weeks
Deputy Aindrias Moynihan (FF) has said that the improved 220 bus service that links Ballincollig to the City Centre and onto Carrigaline must be announced as soon as possible.
Deputy Moynihan was commenting after raising the issue during Taoiseach's Questions last week in the Dáil.
"The National Transport Authority has finally approved the changes which will see a greater frequency of service for Ballincollig commuters," said Moynihan. "Bus Éireann can now move towards launching and implementing the new service. I believe that the new service should be introduced before Christmas in time for the busy period.
"The process has been incredibly convoluted, with the NTA taking a long time to make up their minds on the application that was submitted earlier this summer," he feels.
"The Taoiseach, in his reply to me last week, said he expects the enhanced service to come on stream in the next couple of weeks. Hopefully this will be the case. I know that Bus Éireann is anxious to launch this improved service, and I hope that it can happen sooner rather than later.
"This route is one of the busiest in the Cork region, and it is, at times, very crowded," added Deputy Moynihan.
