Grants for Social Enterprises
Small and start up businesses across Cork have been urged to ensure they do not miss out on a share of a €1million funding windfall announced this week.
Under the Small Capital Grants Scheme for Social Enterprises, which is funded by the Dormant Accounts Fund, social enterprises can apply for sums ranging from €2,000 to €15,000 for equipment, repairs and refurbishment works.
The opening up of the scheme has been welcomed by Cork East TD Kevin O'Keeffe (FF), who said it provides a welcome boost to enterprises with small financial reserves.
"Social enterprises work in many ways to assist people, for example personal and social development, educational development or persons with disability. This funding can prove to be instrumental in helping to improve their services," said Deputy O'Keeffe.
"With this in mind, I would strongly encourage applications as this scheme can benefit a lot of people within our communities," he added.
Applications for funding under the initiative, which must be submitted by Monday, November 11, must be made through the relevant Local Develop Companies.
