Gardaí seeking witnesses to fatal crash

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to help with their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a motorcyclist following a collision in North Cork last Sunday.

Father of four Alan O'Sullivan died following the collision on Sunday afternoon on the R619 at Kilpadder South, Dromahane, roughly 10km from Mallow. 

Gardaí, who were alerted to the incident at around 5pm after the alarm was raised by passing motorists, believe that Mr O'Sullivan's motorcycle left the road and struck a ditch. 

Mr O'Sullivan, who was in his 40's was pronounced dead at the scene short time later and his body removed to the mortuary at the Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. 

Gardaí from the Mallow roads policing unit attended the crash site which subsequently underwent a thorough examination by garda forensic collision investigators.

The motorcycle was also taken away for further examination. 

Gardai have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, in particular passing motorists who may in possession of dashcam footage taken on the road in question around the time of the incident to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
