Gardaí probe Macroom assault

The man who was alleged assaulted on the street in Macroom on Sunday night was discharged from hospital on Monday.

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into the alleged assault this week and have appealed to more witnesses to come forward. 

The incident occured near the Castle Hotel on the Main Street at around 10.30pm on Sunday night during which a man was alleged assaulted after a row broke out. Punches were thrown and one man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment and was released on Monday. 

Gardaí have spoken to a number of witness who were in the vicinity on the night. 

Crime scene investigators undertook a technical examinaton of the scene on Monday. 

No arrests have been made.
