The Mallow-based EPS group has again shown why it is regarded as one of Ireland's most innovative companies - scooping yet another award in a prestigious pan-European business competition.

The company was this week unveiled as the winner of the Digital Technology gong at the European Business Awards (EBA) 'One to Watch' event held at the British Ambassador's residence in Dublin.

The company was among 11 national category winners in the competition, widely regarded as one of the Continent's top business awards.

EPS has an enviable track record in the competition, having being named a National Champion for Ireland in 2014 and winning the coveted EBA Ruben d'Honneur award in 2014 and again in 2015.

The EPS award-winning submission focussed specifically on the company's newly opened €4.5 million, 40,00 sq ft Centre of Design and Manufacturing Excellence, the first of its kind in Ireland and the UK, at their recently expanded campus in the Quartertown Industrial Estate.

Accepting the award EPS director Denis Buckley said there has always been "an innate sense of innovation" within the company, which has been a leading provider of sustainable water solutions for five decades.

"Research, development and the use of emerging technologies - digital and otherwise - has been a cornerstone of our strategy for the past 30-years. As we enter our 50th year in business our new centre showcases our capability, resources and technologies to deliver a wide range of innovative solutions," said Mr Buckley.

"The centre also supports many new jobs in design and manufacturing and our expanding apprenticeship and placement schemes."

The new centre allows EPS, which currently exports to more than 30 countries worldwide, to work in collaboration with their clients and partners across the globe.

These include standard online 3-D designs,  Building Information Modelling (BIM) techniques and 'fly through' digital demonstrations.

"We are making excellent progress in our BIM/digital delivery journey as a company and with our partners, a position we intend to protect and strengthen further over the coming years," said Mr Buckley.

As a national winner EPS will go on to represent Ireland at European level, with the category winners set to be unveiled at the EBA gala final in Poland next May.
