There was a heady tonic ahead of the summer holidays recently with a terrific double triumph for Millstreet Community School ladies teams on the playing fields
In football, Millstreet received a huge reception following their win over Ballyphehane in Macroom. The team rounded off their year with an emphatic win in the decider, looking by far the sharper outfit. Congratulations were extended to the team and to coaches Ms Johnstone and Ms Love.
Four days later, the school’s Junior Camogie side enjoyed a decisive win against Buttevant in Millstreet Town Park to complete a unique double for the Junior GAA ladies. With several dual players, the win was a personal double for many of the girls who picked up two medals.
Calm, composed and controlled play summed up a Millstreet win and their hurling was a delight to watch.
The outcome proved a great lift at the end of the school year, fittingly a guard of honour greeted the team on their return from pupils.
Team captain Maeve Flynn thanked the coaches Ms Campbell and Ms Lyons in addition to the full panel for their hard work all year.
