Cullen toasts GAA star Donncha

Donncha O'Connor hung up his inter-county football boots during 2018, exiting into the Cork sunset with unanimous well wishes and appreciation.

Cullen GAA took the opportunity to acknowledge the Ballydesmond star at a special get together in Martin's Bar. The skilful star called time on his Rebel career after a successful career, of which the highlight was winning an All-Ireland with Cork in 2010.

Cullen GAA Chairman Diarmuid O'Connell described Donncha as an inspiration and a true Cork legend after performing at the highest level.

"Donncha quickly established himself onto the Cork team, impressing greatly with his absolute consistency and general creative play. 2010 brings back special memories, brilliant scores in the semi-final against Dublin and the subsequent All Ireland Final against Down, where his crucial scores swung the outcome in Cork's favour," he said.

"Whether it was with club, division or county, Donncha always gave 100 per cent effort; no doubt, he will continue to contribute to Ballydesmond and Duhallow", said Diarmuid.

Donncha applauded Cullen GAA and proprietor Martin Collins for a hosting which attracted many messages of support in addition to the presence of former team mates and managements.

"There is so much that I owe to my club, Ballydesmond, and friends across Duhallow, whether it was on Cork team busses or marching in pre-match parades, it was always terrific to see recognisable faces from across Duhallow in support of our team", Donncha said.
