A familiar outcome to the Duhallow Ducon Cup after Cullen retained their Duhallow Ducon Cup title from challengers Knocknagree to the Kiskeam staging.

Last season, Cullen bridged a twelve year gap to their last Junior A Football League title won in 2009 and followed up to collect their fourth outright accolade.

Team captain Brian O’Connell expressed delight at the success of the game that caught the imagination given impressive runs by both teams enroute.

“We’re thrilled to win, the team responded really well from the outset, hopefully , this is the start of a successful run for the club with the championship fast approaching ”, said Brian.

Duhallow Junior Board Chairman Steven Lynch commended both Cullen and Knocknagree for a sporting contest and thanked Kanturk business Ducon for their sponsorship of the Junior A Football League in the 85th staging.

“However there is uncertainty to the future of the competition, the County Board are planning a Regional League with Duhallow and Avondhu teams involved. Hopefully the Ducon Cup that started as the Examiner Cup in 1937 can continue”, he said.
