Cork yields 4,076 new .ie domains in 2022

A total of 4,076 .ie domains were registered in Cork during 2022, accounting for nine per cent of the nationwide total, according to a report issued this week by the body administering the domain abbreviation for Irish websites.

According to the .ie profile report, there were almost 330,000 .ie domain names in the database by the end of last year with 48,168 new .ie domains registered in 2022.

The high number of .ie registrations in Cork is an indication of strong growth in a vibrant and very strong digital sector, the authors of the report have suggested.

‘Cork’ and ‘Ireland’ were the most frequently used keywords in new.ie domain names in Cork. The shortest existing .ie website address in Cork is just two characters long, 4b.ie.
