THE wind and rain abated, and the ice thawed to allow a hugely successful staging of the inaugural Millstreet GAA Fun Walk/Run on St Stephens Day.

An impressive turn-out added to the enjoyment and a seasonal atmosphere added to the occasion as individuals and families took to the Station Road Glebe and Drishane Road route before sampling refreshments at the finish at club sponsors Coleman's, where the welcome refreshments were appreciated.

The majority focused primarily on the fun walk but there was plenty of interest too on the run aspect. Denis McCaul and Martina Kiely were first home, followed by Billy Cronin.

The organisers gave thanks to all concerned for contributing to a popular hosting that looks like becoming a permanent fixture on the calendar.
