Cork county and city registered more than 2,000 new '.ie' domains in the first half of 2019, according to a new report released by 'IE Domain Registry' in recent days.

The number of new registrations in Cork was the second-biggest number by any county in the country, behind only Dublin.

It is, however, down by more than five per cent compared to the same period last year.

Cork domains accounted for almost half of the 4,775 new domains registered in Munster in the first six months of this year, the report revealed.

Cork takes up almost nine per cent of the total '.ie' database nationwide.

The report found that more than 80 per cent of all '.ie' domains are registered by companies and the self-employed.
