Reversal of cuts to alarm grant

FOLLOWING the announcement last week by The Department of The Environment, Community and Local Government that funding for alarms for the elderly would be cut and that only people living alone would qualify for a grant, Muintir na Tíre made representations to The Minister and after a media campaign Community Alert were the only organisation to meet with Minister Hogan on the issue on Saturday morning and as a result of their discussion they have succeded in getting a reversal of the cuts and funding to 2012 levels. We trust that this news will allay the fears of members of our community waiting for funding for alarms.
