Racing Pigeon Club's last race of the season
MALLOW Racing Pigeon Club held their last race of the season last weekend with the 250-mile flight from Malin Head.
First home was D. Rice while Jim Farrell took second place. The €50 minute draw was won by Billy Hickey with line 28 while the lucky dip winners of €10 were line 47 Patsy Mullane and Line 1 Michael O'Callaghan. Many thanks to all who supported the draw during the season.
Mallow Special Olympics Club have 20 athletes in the sports of swimming, athletics, soccer and golf representing Munster in the All-Ireland Games in Limerick in June 2014. This is one of the largest and most prestigious sporting events to take place in Ireland in 2014. This is a great achievement for the local athletes, as these games are only held once every four years and they have worked very hard over the four-year cycle.
The cost of sending an athlete to the games is considerable, and the Mallow Club do not have the finances to send athletes so they are looking for the support from the people of Mallow and surrounding districts.
They are having a fundraising event being held in Albert Lynch's Bar Called "Star for a Night" on Friday, November 15. Each singer will perform as their Idol and it is hoped the people of Mallow will support the Singer as they collect with their sponsorship cards.
