Milford's night at the 'Oskars'

People in the parish of Milford have been hard at work for the past number of months learning lines, building sets, organising costumes, holding sponsorship events and endlessly rehearsing. All of this work will culminate in a glamorous red carpet night at The Charleville Park Hotel on Friday, November 2.

The event will be A Night At The Oskars. The red carpet will be rolled out and the bubbly will be on ice to welcome the cast and crew of seven iconic movies, with their families and friends. The movies were filmed by event company Kevin Rowe Events with volunteers from the Milford community and surrounding areas. The movies include: The Field; The Full Monty; Bridesmaids; The Shawshank Redemption; The Snapper; Silence of The Lambs; Man About Dog.

The night will provide many laughs as 1this will be the very first viewing of the movies. With a huge crowd of more than 800 people expected, the anticipation is huge.

On the night there will be a panel of judges who will award 11 Oskars in the main, traditional Oscar categories.

The audience will also have the opportunity to vote on the night in the Best Film category, votes will be on sale for €5 each and people can vote as many times as they wish to support their favourites.

A fabulous panel of Judges include Milford local Anna Geary who is well known for captaining Cork Camogie to All Ireland success and for her work as an RTE panelist, former Clare goalkeeper and manager Davy Fitzgerald, actress and producer Maeve McGrath, Spin South West Presenter Valerie Wheeler and Charleville Man and Pub Personality of the year winner, Brian Barrett. The judges will speak about each movie after they are aired and at the end of the night present each winning Oskar.

Tickets for the Oskars Night are now on sale from Collins Bar and JB's Bar Milford, from committee members and from The Charleville Park Hotel (or Tickets cost €25 each and the dress code for this red carpet event is formal (Black Tie Optional). Tickets will also be used for the raffle with a host of spot prizes on offer.
