Love note at pipe band

Piper and Drummer strike musical love note - Tom Arnold and Marie Scully both members of Newmarket Pipe Band recently announced their engagement. This is the first time in the band's 51 year history that two members became engaged. The band would like to congratulate them on this special event and wish them both every happiness for the future. The band will carry out a number of playing engagements over the coming weeks including Corpus Christi and the Newmarket Summer Festival.


Ladies football clubs in North Cork are organising a 80s / 90s fundraising disco in aid of Pieta House on this Saturday, May 24th at 10pm in Edel Quinn Hall Kanturk. Full bar, over 18s only, fancy dress optional. Tickets, €10, are available from Club Secretary B.B. O'Sullivan 086-0360718.


Results of lotto draw of May 12th are numbers drawn 10, 12, 15, 29. There was no winner of the €7,400 jackpot. Lucky dip winners were €50 Dorothy Barrett; €30 each to Padraig Allen, Jillian McMahon, Drominarigle, Julia O'Flynn, Barley Hill and The Cranky Corner.


Sincere congratulations to the 21 children from both our primary schools who received their first Holy Communion last Saturday morning.

The annual open air mass in Clonfert Cemetery will be celebrated on Ascension Thursday 29th May at 7:30pm. Please inform family members who now live outside the parish and would like to attend. Also a huge thank you to all who turned up for the clean up last Saturday.


The death took place on May 10 peacefully at Araglin House Nursing Home of Dan O'Sullivan of Barnacurra, son of the late Ned and Mary and brother of the late Murty and Thady.

Funeral took place on Wednesday May 14th after Requiem mass in St Marys Church Newmarket to Clonfert Cemetery. A guard of honour was formed by his friends in the Bridge Club.

Sympathy is extended to his cousins, relatives and friends. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
