The Macra year is kicking off to a busy start following a short break over the summer. Avondhu Macra's committee members attended County Officer training last weekend at the West County Hotel in Ennis.

A great weekend was had by all with some very valuable tips and information passed onto the members from Macra na Féirme staff. Officer training is a great opportunity to meet other Macra members to share ideas and meet new friends. Club Officer training takes place Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th of September in the Green Isle Hotel, Dublin.

On Saturday night last at County Officer training, the presentation of 79 leadership awards took place. Congratulations to all those who received awards, especially two Avondhu members; Louise Bourke of Freemount Macra and Cáitríona Fox of Ballyhoura Macra. The girls received Gold Leadership awards in recognition of their dedication and hard work to the region in the roles of Competitions Chair and PRO respectively over the past 12 months.

The regional round of 7-aside Gaelic football took place in Fermoy GAA pitch on Sunday last. 5 men's teams took part, with 2 ladies teams also competing for a place in the National Dairy Council final to be held on Sunday 6th of October. Mitchelstown Macra's ladies team overcame Fermoy Macra to go forward in the competition while for the men; Awbeg's team took the honours. Best of luck to both teams going forward and congratulations to all the teams that took part on the day.
