Gerry Murphy retires from Greatgas Petroleum
GERRY Murphy retired from the GreatGas Petroleum Company on last Friday 28th September and to mark the occasion a special dinner was held at Springfort Hall Hotel, Mallow, to mark his retirement as chairman of Churchtown (Mallow) based GreatGas Petroleum Company.
The Company was founded by Gerry in 2005 and it now delivers fuel to over 100 forecourts throughout Ireland. Speaking at the dinner, Gerry praised all the management and staff of GreatGas for their hard work and loyalty since its inception.
He singled out Ray O'Sullivan for his sterling work for the company and also thanked the other founding shareholders Michelle Gleeson and Maurice Gilbert. Gerry stressed the importance of hiring good people to any business venture and hoped that the proven business skills of north Cork people would attract other employers into the area.
As a lasting memento of Gerry's role in the foundation and growth of the GreatGas Company he was presented with a large piece of bog oak from Annagh Bog in Churchtown, which was carved by local man Noel Linehan.
