IT wasn't just the ladies who were strutting their stuff at a fashion shown in Rockchapel on Friday night as five of 'the lads' also took to the stage.

The fashion show was organised by the parents' association of Rockchapel National School.

One of its organisers, Triona Curtin, told The Corkman that up to 200 people attended, with many past pupils who returned to help out and take part.

She explained that the fundraiser was held to raise funds for the parents' association and it will offset costs such as school tours, pantos and Scor outfits during the year.

"We were just thrilled at how the night went and it was a great success," said Triona.

She said that the parents of Rockchapel NS play a very active role in fundraising for the school.

Boutiques such as Ealu, O'Sheas, Lenihan's and Lady Lydia as well as Noirin's fashions and the Closet, which is based in Abbeyfeale, all took part. Each of the businesses also sponsored a prize as did local businesses in the region.

She said that each year the parents' association also hold a Hallowe'en disco and Christmas concert, and they are the headline events coming up in the diary.

"By having a fashion show and raising funds we now have funds and can start to plan ahead again," said Triona.
