For Freemount Macra it is a case of all roads lead to Ovens next Saturday February 2nd for the National Finals of Capers, Macra's Variety Show Competition which will be held in the Eire Og GAA Pavilion at 8pm.

The cast, crew and producers have worked very hard over the last number of months on routines and acts and are eagerly awaiting show time on the night.

With five Cork teams competing a great night is assured.

We would like to wish everyone from the club involved the very best of luck and safe travelling to all the supporters who are making the trip to Ovens.

Well done to members of the club who took part in Freemount GAA's annual fundraising variety concert on Saturday January 26th. A great night was had by all who were in attendance.

Weekly sports nights continue in Boherbue on Tuesdays at 7.30. Freemount Macra members who are taking part in Macra's Drama Competition this year are attended a workshop hosted by the Avondhu region on Monday 28th in Mitchelstown with Michael Sommers from Kilkenny Macra.

Heartiest congratulations to our debating team of Cian Daly, Sinead Guiney, Owen Bourke and Thomas Stritch who were successful in the Regional Semi-Finals in Boherbue on Sunday January 27th.

Freemount Macra's Annual Ceili in aid of Marymount Hospice takes place on March 1st in the Edel Quinn Hall in Kanturk.


The weekly 45 Drive was well attended on Sunday night last. The following is a list of the lucky winners: First Prize went to: Helen Sheehy, Tullylease, and Willie Murphy, Kilbrin. The winning Gents Team was: Neilie O Connor, and Jim Murphy , Freemount.

The winning Mixed Team was: John and Kathleen Twomey, Meelin. The best Ladies teams were: 1. Maureen Vaughan, and Eileen O Sullivan, Kanturk and 2. Breda McElligott, and Mary Fitzpatrick, Liscarroll. The table prize was won by Tim Broderick, and Mary Noonan, Freemount . The following won Raffle Prizes: 1. Bill Healy, Lismire. 2. PJ O'Sullivan, Freemount. 3. Mary Fitzpatrick, Liscarroll. 4. Margaret O Leary, Freemount.

The 45 drive will continue on this Sunday night Feb 3 at 8pm sharp. We commence playing at 8pm and you can be on the road home at 10pm. See you on Sunday night.

The Rambling House returns on Monday night next February 4 to Cois Abhann at the earlier starting time of 8.30pm . A great night's entertainment assured and refreshments will be available. Please note the change of starting time.


Zumba is back in the Community Centre on Monday nights from 8-9pm. New class price is €6 per class or €35 for 6 weeks! There is a free weigh in after class each week and measurement once a month (optional)! See you all next week ,and get your new year off to a great start...


Art Competition and Exhibition at The Donkey Sanctuary. The theme is anything to do with donkeys. The closing date is 19th March. Entry fee for U18 is €2 and for adults €5. Prizes will be awarded in various age categories.

Look out for this years Willie Dunne Weekend which will take place in Freemount on March 22nd.-23rd.and 24th.

The week-end will consist of a Céilí with Tim Joe and Ann,A concert starring Brian McGrath, and friends. Fiddle and Banjo Workshops.

A Fiddle competition for the Christy Brosnan Memorial Cup,A Heritage Walk, A singing Night. etc. Please make a note of the date and tell all your friends.


The next get together of The Thursday Club will be on this Thursday January 31 at 2pm. As usual we say everybody welcome. Anybody needing transport please contact any member or a neighbour.


The Annual Diocesan Lourdes Mass will be celebrated this year in Fermoy on Monday February 11 at 7.30pm.

It is proposed to hire a bus as usual to attend this Mass if sufficient numbers are interested in travelling.

If you are interested in travelling by bus to this Mass you should ring Mary for full information on 022-28737.

This should be done immediately so that the bus can be booked in good time.
