Astro turf 'gone to the dogs'
Newmarket natives will be going to the dogs on Saturday, March 29 for what promises to be a truly enjoyable evening as well as a major fundraiser for the new Astroturf Pitch.
The Astroturf project is well under way since work started a few weeks ago and the committee is confident the project will be completed by May. Fundraising for the facility is also going very well and the 'Night at the Dogs' at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Tralee on Saturday, March 29th will be a big community event thanks to the tremendous support of local businesses and individuals.
Tickets for the 'Night at the Dogs' are available from Hannon's Statoil Shop and Noreen Keane, High Street. Family tickets are €20.00, individual tickets €10.00, and everybody who buys a ticket is also entered into a draw. Tickets are also available from all committee members. At a cost of €210,000 approx Newmarket Sports & Leisure secured IRD funding of €150,000 leaving a shortfall of €60,000 approx.
Thanks to the generosity of the local community in excess of €30,000 has already been raised. People can donate in various ways such as Life Membership of the Adult GAA €500, join the lotto costing €45.00 for 6 months, €85.00 for 1 year and €170 for 2 years OR donate any amount of your choice through Newmarket Sports and Leisure account in Newmarket Credit Union.
