Under-21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - Kilshannig 4-12 Charleville 0-10: Kilshannig progressed to the knockout stages of the North Cork under-21B Football Championship with a comfortable opening round victory over Charleville at Glantane last Saturday afternoon.

Despite the recent poor weather, it was a splendid day for football for both sides. Kilshannig though were dominant throughout and an early goal helped them into a 1-5 to 0-2 lead after the opening quarter. Charleville were still in the contest at this stage but a strong finish to the half from the home side put further distance between the sides. With some excellent attacking play on show, Kilshannig added three further goals to leave them well in control at the break, 4-7 to 0-4.

With Kilshannig comfortably ahead, the second half was a tighter affair as both sides traded some fine points. Kilshannig though had long secured their passage to the quarter finals while Charleville have a second chance via the back door against Buttevant.
