Clothes Collection

If you have any unwanted, clean, dry, clothes, paired shoes, handbags, belts, curtains, sheets etc please give them to Freemount National School to help their fundraising. Freemount National School will host an enrolment evening for Parents of children starting school in September Tuesday 30th March 2020 at 7.30pm

Our annual Tractor Run will be held on Sunday the 5th April 2020 in Lismire GAA grounds. Registration between 11:30 and 12:15 and starting at 12:30. All money raised will be donated to the Irish Community Rapid Response Air Ambulance Service. All support would be greatly appreciated for such a great cause. Please spread the word!

The National Talent Competition is fast approaching. There are a wide variety of categories to enter-ballad group, disco dancing, set dancing, solo instrumental, solo singing, novelty act or mastermind. The Regional round will take place on this Friday night the 6th March in Castletownroche community hall. Best of luck to all of our members who will take part on the night.

Congratulations to our Impromptu Debating team of Aoife O'Connor, Gearoid Murphy and Breda Strich who won the regional round last Friday night in Lyre. Best of luck to all in the next round of the competition.

Freemount development committee held a tea party last Friday night in Freemount hall. A great night was had by all.

The lotto results for 19th February for a jackpot of €10,100 are as follows. Numbers drawn were 1, 16, 23 and 31 . There was no jackpot winner. Kilbrin GAA are delighted to announce that they will once again be taking to the stage this Spring with a 3 act play.

'I'm the one for you' written by Jimmy Keary tells of the story of Dorrie Sinnott who does a bit of cleaning for widowed farmer, Gerry O'Malley and has her eye on him. But a farming neighbour of Gerry's, Jack O'Dowd is trying to romance Dorrie. Then Gerry meets colourful divorcee, Ruth Hickey and a chaotic love quadrangle develops.

The play will run over 2 weekends: 27th, 28th and 29th March and 4th and 5th April so be sure to pencil it into your diary. More details to follow in coming weeks.

GAA Club Membership

Club membership is due for the coming year. This can be paid to Club Treasurers or any officer and they will pass it on. Ordinary member/non player €20, Gym Members €80.


Bingo continues every Monday night from 8.30. The Jackpot next week is €1,600. Bonus Ball is =D0=8440. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support of Monday night Bingo and you have attended in great numbers.

Tir na Nog

The Tir na Nog group have started a new art project that will last five to six weeks, we wish them the best in this endeavour. They also have an upcoming visit to Lavitt's Gallery in Cork planned where they will be able to view local artist Siobhan Duggan's work.

Fashion Show

On Friday 13th March, Kilbrin Social club will host a night of glitz & glamour with a fashion show. This event will take place at 8pm and will feature local models wearing fashion from local shops. There will be a champagne reception as well as a best dressed lady prize on the night which will be sponsored by Lady Lydia Boutique. If that wasn't enough to draw your attention, all proceeds of the event will go to Charleville & Kanturk Suicide Awareness. So please, everybody, keep this date in your diary and book the baby sitter. 8pm on Friday 13th March at Kilbrin Social club.

Dr Croke House.

Dr Croke house had another great night last Sunday with the usual mix of entertainment from young and old with a variety of instruments. Thanks to all that attended. The large crowd heard a talk by Sr Bernadette Knopek from Charleville.

This was very informative and we are very grateful to her for the work she put into the presentation and for attending on the evening. She invites any one or any group to the heritage centre in Charleville for a visit. You can contact any member of the community council if you want details. Great entertainment from young and old with a variety of instruments.

Bealtaine mass

The Bealtaine Dawn mass will be held on Saturday 2nd May at 6.30am. The following evening Sunday 3rd May will see the next gathering in Croke House a gathering of poetry and culture. Please keep the dates in your diary.


Poker night has returned to the Social Club on Friday nights. This is regular poker with €10 entry and no buy backs. The bus will be running to and from the club so if you want to get a lift call Anthony on 086 7858525. For a fiver this service will collect you at your door and return you home after the cards.

Bake Sale

Last Sunday the Heffernan family held a Bake Sale and Coffee morning in memory of Kate Heffernan and in aid of Marymount Hospice. This was held in Kilbrin Community centre and yet again the community came out in force to lend a hand and contribute in their own way. Many congratulations to the Heffernan family for organising the event and the work throughout the day. Thanks also to everyone for the home baking and wide variety of produce for sale on the day. Finally a big thanks to everyone that attended, in their hundreds, to support this most worthy cause.
