Congratulations to Seán and Joan Lenihan, Derrinatubrid, who recently celebrated 55 years of marriage bliss. Joan, née Flynn, Knocknabowl and Seán were married in St Patrick's Church, Ballydesmond on January 13, 1961. The chief celebrant was Rev Fr Gene O'Callaghan, a cousin of the groom, assisted by Ballydesmond PP, Fr Browne.
The reception took place at the Internatinal Hotel, Killarney and the happy couple travelled around Ireland on their honeymoon.

Cancer bus fundraiser
A successful fundraiser took place last weekend in Moll Carthy's Bridge Kilcorney with a Johnny Cash theme. Night opened with table quiz with many questions related to the life times and music of Johnny Cash. It was then followed by a night of singing where some of his great numbers were belted out with great enthusiasm. All proceeds of the night went to Cancer Connect which is an organisation dedicated to providing transport for people who need cancer treatment in Cork Hospitals.
of Kilcorney Development Association Donie Howard, who organised the fundraiser welcomed Neilie O'Leary and Steve Ellis and commended them on the work they have done over the years and said that it was a service that would always be required. This was an opportunity for the local community to contribute to the costs of this free service which is now being extended to the Duhallow area.
Neilie O'Leary, chairman of West Cork Rural Transport thanked the local community for their support on the night and said that it had always been their ambition to extend the service county wide. He also made an appeal for voluntary drivers and encouraged them to make contact with him at 027 52727. The night was then completed when Sharon Hickey on behalf of Kilcorney Development Association presented a cheque to Neilie O'Leary which amounted to €700 which was the proceeds of the night's activities.

The Marian Players Rathmore present their 30th annual panto Sleeping Beauty in the local Community Centre on Saturday next, January 28, at 7.30 p.m. with additional performances on Wednesday, February 1; Thursday the second and Saturday the fourth alla t 7.30 p.m. They will also present a matinee on Sunday, January 29, and Sunday, February 5, both at 3 p.m.

The River Island Hotel in Castleisland will be alive with glamour and style on this Saturday night, January 28, when the Araglen Desmonds Bui Ladies' Football Club hold their annual social where a number of teams will be honoured for their victories during 2016.
These include North Cork League winners at under-12, 16, minor and junior level plus the County Championship by the all conquering junior squad.
Its an occasion the girls, their families and supporters along with the club officers are eagerly looking forward to. Meal time is 8 p.m. followed by the presentations and dancing late into the night.
The club's AGM takes place on Saturday, February 4, in Kiskeam Community Centre at 5 p.m.

The proposed Araglen Desmonds Bui Ladies' Football Club duck race due to take place on Sunday last had to be postponed due to the shortage of water in the area where the race was due to take place.
However, it will definitely go ahead on this Sunday, meeting at the Community Centre at 12.30 p.m. and if required the race will be moved further down the river.
