It was the town side that started brightest going into a 0-2 to 0-0 score lead after five minutes. However, a goal and two points from Denis Roche in a six minute spell saw Banteer in front by the 13th minute 1-2 to 0-2, the men in red and white would never trail thereafter.

Dominant displays in the defence kept the town sides’ score to a minimum and further points from Alan Coughlan, Tarrant (2) and Philpott saw the village side in front 3-11 to 0-6 at the short whistle.
