Ballyhea: Church notes - VIDEO STREAMING - A video streaming facility has been installed in the church. While primarily intended for the sick and housebound, the service is also open to anyone who wishes to have it By logging on to mcnmedia.tv/weekly and daily Masses as well as funerals and weddings are available to anyone with an internet connection. Family and friends abroad might like to go to see the Parish Masses.

MASS TIMES - Weekend Masses: Saturday, March 212020 (Vigil) 7.30 p.m.; Sunday, March 22, 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Weekday Masses: Morning Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.; Monday the 23rd Tuesday, March 24; Wednesday, March 25, the feast of the Annunciation of the Lord Mass will be celebrated at midday in Latin; Thursday, March 26, to Saturday, March 28, Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

There will be Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursday after 10 a.m. Mass till 11 a.m. Confessions will be heard before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening.

MONTH OF MARCH - The month of March is dedicated to St Joseph. Feast days for the coming week: Monday the 23rd: St Turibiu's de Mogrovejo, bishop. Tuesday the 24th: St Macartan, bishop Wednesday the 25th: The Annunciation of the Lord. Thursday the 26th: St Braullo. Friday the 27th: St John of Egypt. Saturday the 28th: St Sixtu's III.

FORMS OF FRIDAY PENANCE - The following are suggested acts of Penance for Lent. Abstaining from meat. Abstaining from other food. Abstaining from alcoholic drink or smoking. Making a special effort at involvement in family prayer.

Making a special effort to participate in Mass on Fridays. Visiting the Blessed Sacrament. Making the Stations of the Cross. Fasting from all food for a longer period than usual and perhaps giving what is saved to the needy. Helping the poor, sick, old or lonely.

WINDOW SUBSCRIPTIONS - If anyone or any family wishes to sponsor a window, this can be done by a single subscription or by a number of subscriptions over a period of time. One window will be open to public subscription, anyone can contribute any amount to it, if they so wish. Please contact the parish priest.

LOST AND FOUND - A bicycle was abandoned at the church railings in the church grounds. Would the owner please make contact with the parish priest to make arrangements to remove it.

Also, a pair of gloves were found in the church, the owner can collect same.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTIONS - No church gate collection taken up at St Mary's Church, Ballyhea is endorsed by the parish. Any group or organisation intending to collect outside the church gates are asked to present copies of their permits in the sacristy, together with copies of letters of authorisation of those collecting on their behalf. This should be done before the collection commences.

CHURCH CHOIR - The choir has resumed on Sunday at 11 a.m. Mass. New members are always welcome.

GAA NOTES

LOTTO - The lotto was held on Monday, March 9, at the Corbett Court. There was no winner of the jackpot of €1,500. The Numbers were 1, 18, 22. 2020 CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS - The 2020 County Championship draws were held at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Premier SHC (top tier of 12): Group 1: Midleton, Sars, Douglas, Ballyhea; Group 2: Blackrock, Erins Own, Bishopstown, Newtownshandrum; Group 3: Glen Rovers, St Finbarr's, Na Piarsaigh, Carrigtwohill.

MASTER FIXTURES PROGRAMME - The County Board have announced the Master Fixtures programme for the year ahead. Key dates scheduled are SHC v Douglas w/e April 19. SHC v Midleton w/e August 9. SHC v Sarsfields w/e August 30.

SELECTION COMMITTEE - The Selection Committees were ratified recently. Senior: Adrian Gilligan, James O'Shaughnessy, Aidan O'Connor, Eamon Crowley. JUVENILE COMMITTEE - The Juvenile Committee was ratified at the recent Club Executive Meeting. GAA MEMBERSHIP - Club Membership for Juveniles is €20, Adults €40 and Family €80.

NORTH CORK BOARD HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP DRAWS - under-21 A final, Ballyhea v Kilshannig. Junior B semi-final, Ballyhea v winner of Newtown/Mallow.

BALLYHEA GAA DOES STRICTLY - Unfortunately under the current circumstances, the Ballyhea GAA Does Strictly is postponed due to health and safety issues and will be rescheduled later in the year. This was due to take place on March 14 in the Charleville Park Hotel.

The Judges for the event have been announced and are as follows: Gemma O'Shaughnessy, Linda Buckley, Jason Sherlock and back by popular demand Jer.I.am (aka Jeremiah Browne). Funds raised will go towards the completion of the walkway around the club grounds.

CAMOGIE CLUB - Membership is €40 pp. Anyone with old helmets or boots please donate to the club so they can be passed on to the new players. All new members welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS - Congratulations to Jonathan McCarthy who was names Player of the Year at the Robert Emmets Victory Social in London recently.

Ballyhea Community Alert has successfully set up a Text Alert Network to immediately alert our community when an incident occurs. Prompt information to and from Gardaí deters criminal activity. MEN ON THE MOVE

Ballyhea Men on the Move takes place at 7.30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays in the Gym in the new complex in Ballyhea GAA Club. All ages (currently ranging from 30's to 60's) and all levels of fitness catered for, and participants from outside Ballyhea are very welcome. Please come and along and try it out.
