Musical Comedy

Last Saturday night in The Riverside Macroom saw the final night of the musical The Blarney Stone, a fast moving and funny show with a large cast featuring Patrick Bergin. It played to a full house for three nights tickets were like gold dust.

The Leprecauns were great and congrats to Gearoid Kelleher, Ballinagree who played leading Leprecaun, he is a very talented young actor with a great future if he decides to follow that road. They will play the Opera House at a later date, it is well worth seeing.

Ballinagree Grotto

There will be Rosary at the Grotto every Wednesday night at 8pm during May Ballinagree Community Development A Race Night will be held in The Ploughman on Friday night May 17th in aid of the new playground, your support would be appreciated Horses £10 a great night assured.

Ballinagree School Cards

Pilgrim walk to the city

Walkers will set off from Cronin's Farm, Cloch Aidhneach on Sunday next, May12th at 7.30 a.m. or from the Mills, Baile Bhúirne at 8.30 a.m. for the 17th annual Pilgrim walk from Cill na Martra to the City, Shrone at the foot of the Paps. It will be signed from the Mons Bar on the N22. It is planned to arrive in time for the 1.30 p.m. Mass.

Annual Famine Mass

The annual Mass in memory of the victims of the Famine, who are interred in Carraig a Staighre Cemetery in Clondrohid, will be celebrated on Monday, May 27, at 7 p.m. on the site.

Open day in Clondrohid NS

A unique day in the life of any parish took place in Clondrohid on Wednesday May 1, when the eagerly awaited new school opened its doors to all and sundry. Crowds poured in to the school from 1pm to have a look at this great new facility. Teachers, staff and pupils were on hand to show people around . The 'cuppa' was also available.

So roomy, so bright, the views were the comments by all who strolled from classroom to classroom. One would think that they stepped in to another world. Well done to all who helped to bring this long awaited school to fruition. The best of luck to all who cross the threshold over the years to come.

MuinfliuchNS 5KM fun/run/walk

THis will take place on this Sunday May 12. Registration 1.30pm Start time 2pm. €5 per child €10 per adult €20 Family Light refreshments and raffle after. All welcome.

Scoraiocht

To celebrate the Bealtainne Festival the local Retired Active Group will hold a Scoraiocht in the Community Hall on this Fri May 10 at 8pm. Refreshments served.

First Holy Communion

The children of 2nd class in Clondrohid Nat School will receive their First Holy Communion in Clondrohid church on this Saturday May 11. Refreshments in Hall later in the day. All in the Parish wish them well.

Famine graveyard Mass

This will take place at Carraig a Staighre on Monday night May 27 at 7pm A very important and commemorative occasion in the parish. Mark in the diary

G.A.A. news

The 1st match of the Junior a Championship took place last Saturday evening in Inchigeela, when Clondrohid took on Kilmichael. A match where some excellent football was played, a pity to loose by the narrowest of margins. Clondrohid 0 15, Kilmichael 3 7..Best of luck in the next round.

Alzheimers Tea Evening

A tea evening in aid of Alzheimers Association Ireland, will be held in the Social Club on Monday evening 27th May at 6.30pm. Proceeds will go to St. Mary's Day Care Centre, Mallow. Please support this very worthy cause.

Lotto

The lotto results for Monday 6th for a jackpot of €8100 are as follows. Numbers drawn were 9, 32, 34 and 36. There was no jackpot winner. Lucky dip winners were Geraldine Hannon, Newmarket, Phil O'Shea Tullylease, Noel O'Sullivan Kanturk, Brendan Lyons, Gurteenard and Dave Corbett, Ballybane. Congratulations

Well done to Kilbrin lads Kyle Keohane and Ronan Heffernan who were Munster Shield winners with Cork U15 North Region Development Hurling Team last bank holiday Monday. Well done to both lads who have a bright future ahead of them.

We wish Danny Linehan Castlemagner, all the best when he lines out at full back for the Cork Minor football team against Kerry, Tuesday 7th May in Pairc Ui Rinn. Danny is a member of Croke Rovers club.

Bingo

Bingo every Monday night from 8.30. Jackpot is €1,700 on 47 calls. Bonus ball is €240. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support of Monday night Bingo and you have attended in great numbers this year.

Poker night

The social club host a poker night every Friday night at 9pm. There is only a few nights left and we will break for the summer.

Golf Society

Kilbrin Golf Society have their weekend away on 17th May at Bantry Golf Club and 18th May at Skibbereen Golf Club. If you still wish to travel to this please make arrangements as soon as possible. There are also outings scheduled for 15th June at Fermoy Golf Club. 20th July at Newcastlewest Golf Club. 10th August at Kanturk Golf Club. The society would also like to wish Michael Higgins the very best in his captaincy of the society for the year.

Bealtaine mass

This year's Bealtaine mass will take place on this Saturday 11th May in the graveyard at 6.30am. This is a great community event and a beautiful ceremony so please come along and join this dawn mass which will be celebrated by our local PP Father Leader.

Dr Croke Birthplace House

A great night has been organised for this Sunday evening the 12th May at 8pm. There will be a great evening entertainment and a super line up has been arranged so please keep the date in your diaries.

Village upkeep

As you can see the work is taking shape to make our village clean and beautiful. We would sincerely like to thank Pat O'Leary and our two Deirdre's next to us for all their work in this. If anyone else would like to lend a hand please contact any member of the community council.

Playground

As you may have noticed the new playground is open for business. We hope that you get many years enjoyment from it and everyone has a fun and safe time there.

Tir na Nog

The Tir na Nog group had a great day in Cork city last week. They visited St Finbarr's cathedral and has a guided tour of the historical sites in Cork. Indeed they general consensus was that they did not have enough time to see more of it and promise to return.

Irish Dancing

Congrats to all the Julie Nolan dancers who had a very busy weekend. First on Sunday where her dancers took to the floor for the Aine Murphy Feis in Killarney bringing lots of silverware home to North Cork with special congrats to one of Julie's youngest dancers who won and has now gone up to open Championship.

On Sunday Julie's team dancers who have been training tirelessly took to the floor in Dunmanway for their first entries into Fleadh Ceol Chorcai. it was an outstanding success with her 8 handed U12 girls winning and 3 further teams qualifying for the Munster Fleadh Cheol in Ennis in July. Don't Forget Julie's class Feis takes place in Kilbrin Community Centre on Sunday 19th May, a great day out, for family and friends.

Kilbrin Community Council

The next meeting of the community council will take place on next Tuesday 14th May. Anyone that wants to attend please feel free to come along.

The AGM of the community council will be held in May. We will let you know the date next week. We would like to ask as many as possible to attend, as this council and all that goes with it is for everyone in the community.
