Aghinagh: Over 55s Christmas Party - On next Sunday afternoon in The Ploughman, the Ballinagree Over 55s Christmas Party will be held beginning at 1.30 pm with lunch, desert, and all kinds of cake with the tea.

Jerome and the Lee Sound will take over then, with dancing singing and the craic until Tea Time where more yummy cakes will be served. Rita and her team put a great deal of effort into this very special Party, you might not be that age now, but believe me its only like a few weeks until you reach the magic age of 55. There will be a raffle with lots and lots of sponcered prizes. a wonderful evenings entertainment.

The switching on of the Lights in the Crib in Ballinagree will take place on Friday night Dec 7th at 8.45 pm to facilite Mass in Rusheen Church. Fr Joe will do the honours of Blessing the crib and the School l Children will form the Choir Ballyvongane N.S. Parents Ass will hold their Christmas Celebrations on Dec. 9th with turning on the Christmas Tree Lights and Carol Singing in the School yard followed by Mulled Wine and Mince Pies and Raffle in Tigh Ui Laoghaires at 5.30 All Welcome

At the recent graduation from the Limerick Institute of Technology, Cristín Ní Dheasúna, Cúil a Bhuacaigh was not only awarded an Honours Degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning, she also collected the Rita Clohesy Sports Achievement Award for 2018. Míle comhghairdeas Cristín.

The first annual local event each New Year is Macroom Ploughing Match and this winter's event is planned for January 6th in Coachford, starting at 11:30am.

Race night

Ascot came to Clondrohid Tavern on Sat night when Clondrohid went racing for a Roadway to raise funds to upgrade the roadway to the Community Facilities, for the current generation of users, and indeed for generations to come. A huge THANK YOU to the hard working lads and ladies who have been working on this for the past number of weeks.

A special thank you to all who supported this major event, and without whose support no money would have been raised. those who purchased and sold horses, the businesses who sponsored pages on the fine booklet produced, those who placed bets, donated to the raffle and auction, and to all those who purchased raffle tickets, and raised a bid on the auction excellently run by Dan Creedon.

Sincere Thanks to Peter Lane who kept everything running smoothly on Sat night, also Theresa, Paudie and staff for their help with this event.

Poc Fada

An excellent day in glorious sunshine with the Millstreet Pipe Band commenced this annual event in Clondrohid last Sunday. €2,100 was raised on the day for Marymount Hospice. Well done and congrats to all who helped in any way to make this a successful event in memory of Shane Murphy.

Christmas lights

The Christmas Crib will be lit on Saturday Dec 1 and the Christmas tree and Crib will be blessed after 7.30pm Mass on Saturday Dec 8.
