Saturday, December 7 is the date for the blessing of the Crib at the Square and the turning on of the Christmas tree lights.
The tree was put into place during the week by Sean Kelly, Ballydesmond and his staff while the lights were attached by the local Committee members on Sunday morning.
The house lights were also fitted in the vicinity of the Square with the rest being completed on Saturday next.
This was all possible thanks to the availability of Jim O'Hanlon's forklift and Martin Leaders cherrypicker, which were at the disposal of the Committee.
Also joining in were some of the new residents at Parkview in the Beeches and this community spirit was wonderful to see.
The ceremony will take place at approx 8pm (after 7.30pm Mass) .The National School children will again take centre stage along with the local church choir.
Afterwards, you are all invited to the Hall for some Christmas 'cheer' and soft drinks.
The annual Mass in Kilmeen Cemetery will take place on this Saturday, November 30 at 2pm.
The annual Christmas market moves to Saturday, December 7 this year from 12 noon to 4pm and is again been eagerly looked forward to. There will be a full house of stalls each displaying their products which include crafts, baking, decorations, clothes, jewellery -- a chance to get a gift for everyone in the family and all under the one roof.
The monster raffle will again be a big attraction along with numerous other sideshows.
Santa himself will be in attendnace compliments of the local SuperValu with a surprise for all visitors. So, go along and enjoy an afternoon with a difference, meet some friends and sample the 'buzz' of Christmas.

A whopping €2,754 was raised at the recent Gill Mc Carthy Quiz held at the Mons Bar in October. Tadhg and the family are truly grateful and extend a million thanks to all supporters and donors. A cheque for this substantial amount will be presented to Marymount on this Saturday, November 30th in the Mons Bar. A few locals have agreed to beard shaves during a night of fun, craic and music. News from Muinfliuch NS
They are working on biodiversity for their 5th green flag this year. Recently they applied to the local agenda 21 Environmental Partnership fund from Cork County Council and were successful in being granted €1,000 towards work in their garden. They plan to use this grant to upgrade their poly tunnel, add signage around the school and continue planting vegetables, fruits and flowers in Spring.
On Wednesday November 13 Dave Brooks from an Táisce completed workshops with each classroom doing lots of planting. Each group planted a tree in the school grounds.
On Friday November 15 Wendy Ward from the RNLI organised an interactive and very engaging talk for the pupils in Muinefliuch NS.
Congratulations to the pupils from 5th and 6th class in Muinefliuch NS who performed so well in the Science quiz held in UCC on Tuesday November 19 Pupils from 5th class scored an unbelievable 59 out of 64 and were overall winners of the Science quiz. Over 60 schools from all over Cork city and county participated. Well done.
The parents association have organised a floral demonstration in the school for Friday December 6 at 7:30pm. Tickets are €10 and all are very welcome on the night.

A great night of song and story telling was held in Community Hall by this Active Group on Monday night November 18 Thanks to all members who turned up, and to Fr. Joe for popping in to say hello and sing a song. The Christmas Dinner will take place in the Mills Inn Ballyvourney on Saturday night December 14 at 7.30pm.

Avondhu Indoor Athletic Event
Avondhu District will host a Juvenile Indoor athletics Competition in Nenagh on Saturday 7th December from 11.00am to 3.00pm for athletes from clubs in the Avondhu area ages U9 to U18. 2020 ages. Events on offer 60m, 300m, 500, 600m, 800m, and Long Jump.
Only five weeks until the Indoor Championships which will take place in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sunday 5th January 2020.
Men and Women U20 and U23 Championships along with Juvenile Combined Events ages Boys and Girls U11 to U16.

Kiskeam GAA club are holding its 25th anniversary social to celebrate winning the 1994 Duhallow Junior Championship and reaching the County final that year.
