Aghinagh Comhaltas will host the County Fleadh Cheoil in Macroom next May to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Aghinagh Comhaltas, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Aghinagh Juvenile GAA are holding a table quiz in Rusheen GAA hall on next Friday, kids from sixth class welcome.

Rusheen NS will hold their annual Christmas Market on Sunday, December 3, in the GAA hall in Rusheen at 11.45 AM usual stalls, home baking, glass of mulled wine to keep the chill out, all welcome.

Liscarroll AC

Last Sunday was a relatively quiet day at competition level, but athletes did not rest on their laurels. Instead, up to thirty of them made the long trip to Nenagh Indoor Stadium for a training and practical day.

Thanks to their parents and club coaches, a lot was done, ie sprinting, jumping and throwing with everyone coming home happy that everyone had a great workout, and asking when the next day would be.

Cross country

On next Sunday, November 26, the first of the All-Ireland Cross Country Championships will be held at Abbotstown, Co Dublin. Liscarroll AC will be represented by Johnny Murphy in the boys under 12 race, while Anna Kellegher will compete in the girls under 18 race, both of them representing Club and County. We all wish them well.

Bazaar na Nollag

The annual Bazaar na Nollag will get under way on Sunday next, November 26th in the Ionad Pobail at 2:30pm, with the arrival of Daidí na Nollag. All the usual stalls and attractions will be back plus one or two new ones. The Craft Stall welcomes all hand work and home produce for the Auction. Raffle tickets are available for attractive prizes, sponsored locally. Once again all proceeds will go into Parish Funds. All support will be most welcome.

Wedding

The wedding took place recently in Toames Church of Máirtín Ó Conchúir, Doire an Tóchair and Vera Foley, Tarelton. Vera is assured of a céad mile fáilte in Cill na Martra. Saol fada agus sonas daoibh.

The Annual Simon Concert at the Mills, Baile Mhúirne will take place on this Friday, November 24th at 9pm. Local musicians, Ger Wolfe and Noel Shine will be joined by Hank Wedel, and Nature=92s Corner Houseband. Admission is free but donations are welcome.

Coastal rosary

On Sunday next, November 26th, the feast of Christ the King, Rosaries will be recited at over 200 coastal locations around Ireland for the preservation of Faith and Life. In Cork, Rosaries will be said at Charlesfort, Kinsale, St. Finbarr's Church, Bantry, Cork City Docks behind Kent Station, Blackrock Castle, Union Hall, Warren Beach, Rosscarbery, Cush Oysterhaven, Cobh Cathedral, Dinish Bridge, Castletownbere and Camden Fort, Crosshaven. Tea party

Aghinagh Comhaltas are hosting a Tea Party in the Laine Bar, Baile na Groí on Friday, November 24th at 8pm. It is in aid of the County Fleadh next year.

Clondrohid

Flower demonstration

Muinfliuch NS parents' association are holding a Christmas Flower Demo in the School on Thursday, December 7, at 8 p.m., presented by local girl Caitriona Healy O'Brien of Enchanted Flowers Macroom. There will be Craft Stalls, refreshments and of course a raffle on the night. Tickets €10 can be purchased at the door on the night. Everyone welcome, come along and get into the Christmas spirit.

Cart bus

A very successful coffee evening was held in the Pub Carriganima last Saturday evening to raise funds for the replacement CART bus. The committee would like to thank all who supported their coffee evening and all those who contributed in their own way. Those, who gave spot prizes both individuals and businesses, those who baked, served tea, coffee and cleaned up, helped with the raffle and prizes.

Thank you to the businesses that allow us put posters up and to the people who like and SHARE the CART trips. CART can only achieve its goals with the assistance of the generous donations they receive from members of the community.

Millstreet Vintage Clubs presented a cheque from their very successful autumn annual 'tractor run 'on the night. A big thanks to the club on presenting the €1,300.99 proceeds to Carriganima based CART Rural Transport Service Bus. Perfect weather conditions added to the enjoyment of the day, close on 70 tractors took to the road over scenic terrain to Moll Carthys Bridge for a short halt before returning to Carriganima Pub for a barbecue and refreshments.

The committee hope to hold some church gate collections commencing with Clondrohid on December 2 and December 3.

This Saturday night November 25, Seanie and Mattie are celebrating their seventh birthday in 'The Pub'. Come along and celebrate with them. Music by Paudie and Shades of Country from Shrone On Sunday, December 17, Santa is arriving on horseback at 3 p.m. Great day out for all the family. On Thursday, December 28, the well established' Murphys Night Out' will take place. Music by Little Creatures.

They are also hoping to run a First Aid Course in the pub around 7 p.m. for one hour over a period of two to three weeks. If you are interested please contact Seanie at 087 2600640, and depending on interest they will organise same.

Wizard of Oz

There are only two weeks left to the opening night of the Coachford Players production of 'The Wizard of Oz'. This fantastic and colourful musical will open on Saturday, December 9, and will run for four nights till December 12 the musical features a top class local cast who are working extremely hard preparing for the opening night.

The show is full of wonderful characters and great songs. Come along to see Dorothy played by Colette Hogan perform the classic, 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' as she meets up with the Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion. Be prepared to be frightened by the wicked witch as she threatens all in the land of Oz and the adorable Munchkins and get ready to meet the lovely and good witch Glinda and the ever powerful wizard.

This is the first musical in Coachford to feature a dog and Toto is being pampered and groomed in preparation for his four big performances on Saturday the ninth, Sunday the 10th Monday and Monday, December 11 and 12. Don't miss this great night out and prepare yourself to be entertained and transported to the wonderful land of Oz. Tickets are available at the door each night and the show begins at 8 p.m.

Tractor Building

The Broomhill Vintage Club's Ladies Tractor Building team are attempting to do something different this weekend as they will try and build their famous Ferguson 20 tractor inside in O'Riordan's Pub, Coachford in aid of the Rickie Healy appeal.

This is going to be a great day of entertainment and fun. Aoife Murray will be in attendance with the all-Ireland camogie trophy and there will be music later on in the evening when the great Balladeer, Tim Riordan of Natural Gas will play to please the large crowd. 'The lads did this feat some years ago and it was great fun to see the tractor coming together in the bar but Sunday will be the first time that the ladies will attempt it. Having the all-Ireland camogie trophy here is a great bonus and we are looking forward to a lot of people turning up to help the girls raise money for the Rickie Healy Appeal' said Pat O'Riordan of O'Riordan's Bar. The day begins at 3 p.m.

With Christmas approaching, the Coachford Community Association are giving out five prizes in this month's 50/50 Raffle. First prize is 50% of the total pot and there is a beautiful box of Christmas biscuits for four runners-up. Get your tickets before the end of the month to be in with a chance of winning these great prizes.

Tickets are available around the village. This is the only draw to guarantee to give you half of all that is collected and the only raffle to guarantee there will be a winner every single time the draw is made.
