Annual Easter Civic Parade in Mallow
The annual Easter Civic Parade in Mallow will take place on this Easter Monday.
This cross party event is a long standing tradition in the town, commemorating the Easter Rising of 1916.
People are asked to gather at Mallow Courthouse at 11.45am while the parade itself will proceed at 12 midday taking in the New Road, Fair Street, before pausing at the Thomas Davis statue at the plaza for a rendition of 'A Nation Once Again' by the Thomas Davis Pipe Band.
From there the parade will proceed to the 1916 Memorial Stone in the grounds of Mallow Castle where members of all parties will lay a wreath. The proclamation in Irish will be read by Emily Noonan Keane, a student at Davis College.
A Remembrance Mass will be held in St. Mary's Church at 10am on Easter Monday.
