Summer sun put smiles on the faces of Corkonians
A WIN for Cork in next Sunday's All-Ireland final replay would prove to be the icing on the cake for the Rebel county - particularly if the sun keeps shining.
However, even if the unthinkable happens and they do lose to the 'Banner', Corkonians can console themselves with the though that the sunny summer has left its mark on the Cork psyche. According to a Vodafone survey, the sunny summer weather left the vast majority of Corkonains with smiles on their faces and a spring in their step.
More than 90% of those surveyed said the sunny summer weather had left them feeling warm in the inside as well as the outside, making it considerably easier to get up in the morning.
The majority of those included also said the sun banished the recession blues and left them feeling more optimistic about the future.
Those surveyed were also asked what was the key difference between this and previous summers, with being able to plan a barbecue without checking for rain clouds and being able to wear their sun holiday wardrobe at home coming out on top.
In fact, fashion, or the lack of it, featured prominently in the survey with some of the wardrobe choices listed as 'crimes against fashion'.
Top of the list of fashion faux pas were the familiar socks with sandals followed closely by shirtless men, fake tans and belly tops.
Unsurprisingly, Cork beating Kilkenny came top of the summer sporting feelgood list, although that could well have been eclipsed by teatime next Sunday if Cork win the All-Ireland replayed showdown at Croker.
