Sean nós singer to launch bog oak exhibition

Renowned sean nós singer Nell Ní Chróinín will have a very special event next week as she's to launch an exhibition of bog oak sculptures and paintings by Múscraí Gaeltacht character Joe Kelly and Catherine Cronin at Baile Mhúirne's Ionad Cultúrtha.

Entitled 'Cruthaitheacht Darach Duibhe/the Creativity of Black or Bog Oak', the exhibition is to get underway on Thursday, January 16, at 7.30pm.

The bog oak sculptures are by retired farmer Joe while the paintings are the work of Catherine Cronin.

The event kicks off a busy Spring season at the Ionad with concerts by Donal O'Connor and friends, Seamus and Méabh Begley and an album launch by Cór Ban Chúil Aodha, directed by Peadar Ó Riada, at the beginning of February, the start of Imbolc when the ancient Celtic New Year officially begins.
