DUBLINER Chris Kavanagh will bring his acclaimed ‘Legend of Luke Kelly’ show to the INEC in Killarney on Saturday, July 9.
Raised on a diet of traditional music, Kavanagh has been singing folk songs since he was three-years-old and leaned to play the piano by ear at the tender age of five. His love of Luke Kelly’s music also inspired him to learn to play the five-string, long neck banjo.
As well as bearing a striking resemblance to Kelly, Kavanagh also captures the raw emotion, depth and passion of his hero’s voice.
Kavanagh has toured with The Dubliners, the band Luke Kelly co-founded in the early 1960s, on their German tour and made a guest appearance on their 50th anniversary DVD recorded at Dublin’s Vicar Street.
