Fashionistas from across the globe will be tipping their hats to a Fermoy-based milliner who is set to display a pair of her imaginative creations at one of the industry's most prestigious showcase events.

Originally from Macroom, Ann Flynn has been making waves within the fashion world for some time with her stunning headpieces that are much in demand by fashion conscious buyers across Ireland and farther afield.

Ann, who designs and makes one-off hats and headpieces under her Hat Trick label, has seen her creations grace a number of high profile events including the Galway and Punchestown Races at home, the Kentucky Derby and Royal Ascot.

Back in 2013 Ann was also commissioned to design and make a distinctive piece for a guest attending one of Queen Elizabeth's garden parties in the grounds of London's Buckingham Palace.

Now, two of her headpieces will be among 300 made by more than 130 designers from across the world to go on display at a prestigious exhibition in the British capital. They will form part of the Great Hat Exhibition taking place at the Living Centre in King's Cross under the auspices of London Hat Week, which will run from March 22 - 28.

A delighted Ann told The Corkman that she is looking forward to her pieces going on display alongside creations made by fellow designers from Europe, the US, Australia, Africa and Asia.

"Each designer draws their inspiration from their own culture, traditions or  lost ancient millinery methods from their respective countries. One of my pieces has been inspired by Irish boglands, with the other featuring Celtic lace trimming and orchids, which are the trademark flowers in my creations," said Ann.

"The Great Hat Exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for me to show off my hats to an international audience and will hopefully help open up new markets to me."

The process of expanding her business is already underway, with Ann  recently approached by a leading UK fashion agency seeking to have her pieces showcased in London.  She is also set to showcase her distinctive summer collection at the Fashion and Beauty Collective event promoted by celebrated fashion icon Gok Wan and renowned make-up artist Danielle Mahon.

In between all of this, Ann is currently in the process of designing headpieces for the spring racing season and ready-to-wear pieces for weddings.

"It's been a busy year so far, and it's just about to get a lot busier," said Ann.  "I love using my imagination to create unique pieces and having two of these included in the Great Hat Exhibition is the icing on the cake."
