Great buzz at Banteer soccer camp

John Tarrant

The tried and tested formula of drills and fun games returned for the ever popular Banteer summer soccer camp.  Once again the event attracted a massive entry from across the Duhallow region, with the youngsters hoping to one day perhaps follow in the footsteps of their TV idols.

Despite the mixed weather, an unrivalled combination of excellent facilities at Banteer Sports Field, friendly coaches and plenty of skills and thrills added to the occasion. John Sheehan, who is the driving force behind the annual camp, said its 24th staging lived up to expectation of the young boys and girls. "It has been an amazing journey to see the growth of the soccer camp down through the years.

For some, it's the first start in a pathway in soccer and sport, hopefully, they will continue to play in the years to come", he said. The fun-filled camp provides the opportunity to introduce children to soccer and help them to develop their skills in a fun environment.

John Sheehan thanked all involved on making the 2019 staging a massive success with a dedicated coaching line up adding to the appeal. "These coaches helped create a fun and safe environment in which children can learn the basic skills of the game in carefully controlled groups that ensure each received the maximum attention", he said.
