Blarney lecture on tracing your ancestry

Bill Browne

Anyone who has encountered difficulty while trying to trace their lineage will be interested in an illustrated lecture taking place in Blarney in the New Year.

Entitled 'Why Can't I Find My Ancestors', the lecture will take place at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál in Blarney from 8pm on Thursday, January 9.

Hosted by the Blarney & District Historical Society, it will be presented by Karen O'Riordan from the Local Studies Department of Cork County Library and will incorporate specific examples from parish registers, civil records and census returns.

The lecture will be of particular interest to individuals who have conducted some family history research but have stumbled across the 'genealogical brick wall.'

Admission will be €4 and all are welcome. For more visit
