The Voice

THE Glen Theatre will hold the "Voice of the Glen" singing competition over the next two months.

A total of 48 singers nominated by clubs, pubs and more from Cork County and beyond will participate, and there will be a substantial cash fund for the winners.

Entries can be submitted to Tadgh O'Keeffe on 029-56171. The Glen Theatre are also seeking local sponsors for the event.

A ten week management course on weight loss will commence in the Muintir Na Tire Hall in Buttevant on Wednesday, January 15 at 10.30am.

The course will be run by a qualified dietary coach and its €90 for ten sessions.

The Marion Players' Rathmore pantomime this year is 'Robinson Crusoe & the Caribbean Pirates'.

Their 27th pantomime, it runs on January 25, 26, 29 and 30, and February 1, 2 at Rathmore Community Centre. It starts each night at 8pm with martinees at 3pm on Sundays in aid of Kerry Parents Friends Association.

KNOCKNAGREE school parents council are holding a fundraising 45 drive on Sunday, January 5 in the local community centre at 7pm. Admission is €10 and all proceeds go to the school.


MILLSTREET'S sixth annual Boeing / Blackwater New Years Day Swim set for New Year's Day fell victim to this week's adverse weather conditions.

The event was cancelled due to the weather conditions and the high water levels in the Blackwater river.

Organisers hope to reschedule the event for Sunday, January 5.
