Spooktacular has the chill factor

Eugene Cosgrove

Bitterly cold weather threw a damper on the Cork County Council annual 'Spooktacular' event at Mallow Castle last Saturday afternoon.

The crowd was noticably down from other years but there was plenty entertainment for both young and old in an ideal setting in the grounds for the two hour event.

On a bright and crisp day the stars of the show were the dance groups of all ages from Centre Stage who performed excellent dance sequences on the green of the castle grounds. For the children there was plenty face painting facilities on site as well as frightening Halloween characters to add to the occasion as well as an entertaining fire juggling act as well as tightrope walking displays.

Supported by Mallow Chamber, its president, Pat Hayes, was also present and dressed in an ideal costume for the occasion. Earlier in the day the highly entertaining and award winning Kilshannig Ceilli group performed at the town plaza.
