Fans of the C103 Programme 'Round the Fireside' can look forward to some great shows with a range of diverse and interesting guests when Jimmy Reidy hosts Stephen Travers, Jackie McAuley, Liam Dwyer, David Peare and Con Twomey in two forthcoming episodes.

Stephen Travers was the bass guitarist with the Miami Showband and played all the halls around North Cork on a regular basis.

Stephen and fellow band member Des Lee were the only ones to survive the horrendous Miami Showband Massacre. Although Stephen is still involved in music, he also established the Truth and Reconciliation Platform to give victims of the Troubles, regardless of their political, religious or cultural backgrounds, an opportunity to tell their own story so that the terrible consequences of political violence will never be forgotten and the mistakes of the past will never be repeated.

Stephen went on to write the Miami Showband Massacre Book with Neil Featherstonhaugh, which was picked up by Hollywood a few years ago.

Stephen co-wrote the script for the film, which is almost ready for release. Jackie McAuley toured with Van Morrison and shared stages with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks.  He played with Paul Brady's Band and later formed The Belfast Gypsies.

His songwriting abilities came to fruition when he and John Gustafson of Roxy Music penned the hit song 'Dear John' for Status Quo.

His songwriting was recognised once again in the Hollywood movies American Fork (William Baldwin) and Stranger Things (Winona Ryder).

He is currently working as the Jackie McAuley Band with Pier Luigi Cioci and Joe Toal.

In 2017 Jackie played at the New Day Festival in Kent, England, and finished writing his memoirs. Liam Dwyer from Tipperary also played with several bands and is well known for his prowess on the field of sport.

David Peare will speak about ghost t ours in the Kinsale area, and musician Con Twomey is no stranger to audiences all over Cork County and beyond.

The 'Round the Fire' shows will be aired  April 23 and May 7 on C103.
